Context

InSite delivered a full FEED package for a 20MW electrolyser project at a European fuels storage terminal. The work included a Class 3 cost estimate and Level 2 overall project schedule, supporting a stand-alone operation with road and pipeline export capabilities.

Challenge

A European hydrogen company required a FEED package for a 20MW electrolyser project, including a Class 3 cost estimate and a Level 2 schedule. Although the project was located within an existing fuels terminal, it needed to operate independently, with clear tie-in points for power, water and effluent, and the ability to export via road and pipeline.

Solution

InSite provided a full, multi-discipline team of experienced engineers, including team members with prior knowledge of the site. A strong process team were key in addressing process and safety requirements early.

InSite worked closely with the client to refine project options and adapt the basis of design to align with commercial goals. Effective communication leveraged the client’s specialist knowledge to increase efficiency.

The final FEED package met the required cost and schedule, accounted for all interfaces with the existing terminal, and incorporated local planning and permitting requirements. Project risks were addressed, and mitigation strategies were developed. The Class 3 estimate provided flexible options to support informed client decision-making.
