InSite provided a highly experienced process consultant to technically evaluate the import and blending of bio-diesel components at an existing UK storage terminal.

Context

Evaluate the import and blending of bio-diesel components at an existing UK storage terminal.

Challenge

A UK storage terminal and importer were considering a business opportunity to import and blend bio-diesel, including components such as Tallow.

They required a feasibility study to evaluate the technical aspects of importing and blending to finished product, within the existing facilities. This was a fast-track study, required in 3 weeks.

Solution

InSite’s highly experienced process consultant evaluated the import component properties to identify the constraints for import and blending to bio-diesel.

Logistical and technical feasibility were evaluated for the existing terminal. This identified the  import, storage and blending circuits required, as well as the operational requirements and constraints, to determine suitable strategies for safe and reliable handling and storage.

InSite provided a clear and concise report, together with marked-up P&IDs of the required facilities.
