Jean Martin

Managing Director

Jean Martin CEng MIMechE

A chartered mechanical engineer, Jean is a seasoned professional with a 23 year career in Refining, leading to her current role.

Managing Director of InSite and one of the founders of our company, she heads a team of over 100 staff providing technical and engineering services to industrial clients.

As a consultant within the team, she provides advice to a wide range of clients on issues of mechanical integrity and operations excellence.

Jason O’Malley

UK Sales Director

Jason O’Malley, CEng MIChemE is responsible for strategic growth and client relationship management.

Jason is a Chartered Chemical Engineer with over 20 years’ experience in the Oil & Gas industry. He has a proven track record in project management and leading process design teams through all project phases from concept to commissioning.  He has worked on a wide range of projects, from brown field debottlenecks to major green field facilities. Jason has particular expertise in design and operation of oil refineries and onshore oil & gas production facilities.  He has extensive experience in senior operational and technical roles at both operating and EPC companies.

Tom Johnston

Technical Director

Tom Johnston, BEng oversees all elements of the engineering service delivery that the company provides.

Tom has successfully delivered engineering project design packages and technical consultancy services to local and international clients. He was previously the operations manager at a UK oil refinery where he had a clear vision for safe and reliable operation as well as continuous improvement. His significant technical experience of process engineering support and refining operations backed up by solid process design experience in oil refining and petrochemicals allows him to deliver technically excellent projects for clients in a range of sectors

Jon Scarr

Finance Director

Jon Scarr, CEng MIChemE is responsible for all financial aspects of the company’s business.

Jon is a Chartered Chemical Engineer with over 15 years’ experience in the oil & gas industry. Prior to co-founding InSite, he held engineering positions at both large EPC contractors and operating sites within the petrochemical industry.  At InSite he was Operations Director before switching roles to Finance Director shortly after InSite joined the Vulcain Group in 2021.  Jon works closely with the InSite team to set and achieve the Budget, and supports other entities within the Vulcain Group.

Gary Morgan

Chief Engineer

Gary Morgan, IEng MIMechE joined InSite in 2018 after completing a major revamp project in the upstream North Sea sector. As Chief Engineer, he acts as technical authority, ensuring that InSite’s standards, processes, and technical output meet the highest levels of compliance and reliability. He also leads our consultancy offering, working closely with the senior management team to develop and expand this service.

With over 35 years of experience in integrity management, inspection and reliability, operations, and project engineering across the Oil, Gas, Chemical, and Energy sectors, Gary has developed extensive knowledge of Top-Tier COMAH sites and maintains strong working relationships with the UK regulator.

Mathew Howells

Operations Manager

As Operations Manager at InSite, Mathew is responsible for the day-to-day running of the business and the continual improvement of its operations. He oversees project and engineering delivery, business performance, and internal systems, ensuring the company operates efficiently and delivers consistent, high-quality outcomes for clients. Mathew also plays a key role in developing people, promoting collaboration, and strengthening InSite’s reputation for operational excellence.

An Electrical Engineer by background, Mathew has extensive experience in design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance across the Oil & Gas, Metals, and Power Generation industries. Before joining InSite, he held technical and project engineering roles that developed his strong foundations in electrical design, project execution, and multidisciplinary coordination.

Since joining InSite, Mathew has progressed from an engineering role into engineering management and now operations leadership, combining hands-on technical experience with strong leadership and commercial awareness. His focus on effective delivery, business performance, and sustainable growth ensures InSite continues to evolve as a trusted and forward-looking engineering consultancy.

Mickaël Alusse

Business Development & Execution Manager

Mickaël is an experienced Principal Project Engineering Manager with a wealth of knowledge spanning engineering design, project and maintenance planning, execution, cost control, and quality assurance.

He has successfully managed numerous projects from design through to completion, consistently delivering on time and within budget. With strong leadership and team management skills developed through international experience, Mickaël combines deep technical knowledge in structural design, steelwork fabrication, and construction with a practical, hands-on approach to project delivery.

Sam Irwin

Engineering Manager

Sam Irwin, BEng MIET | TÜV SÜD is a Control and Instrumentation Engineer with over 20 years of experience in Electrical, Control, and Instrumentation within the Oil & Gas industry. He has worked extensively on the client side for Top-Tier COMAH operators, contributing across all phases of project delivery.

Specialising in Functional Safety, Sam supports both midstream and downstream operations, bringing deep technical expertise and a strong focus on compliance. His leadership and management experience ensure that multi-disciplinary engineering teams are well-coordinated, supported, and consistently deliver high-quality outcomes across complex projects.

Osian Rees

Project Engineering Manager

Osian is a Mechanical Engineer with over 20 years of experience leading and managing design activity within multi-discipline engineering teams. His background spans the full project lifecycle—from engineering and procurement through to construction and commissioning—on large-scale process technology projects across multiple industry sectors.

Osian’s key strength lies in his detailed mechanical engineering expertise combined with the ability to make informed, pragmatic decisions that help resolve project challenges and drive successful outcomes.

Dai Cox

Technical Proposals Manager

Dai Cox, CEng FIChemE

Dai is a Chartered Chemical Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers, with nearly 30 years of experience in engineering design and management across both upstream and downstream sectors of the oil and gas industry.

Since joining InSite in 2018, Dai has led the sustained growth and evolution of the Process Engineering team, delivering consistently high-quality engineering packages to clients. His leadership has been instrumental in shaping the team’s technical excellence and collaborative culture.

Dai is also deeply committed to developing the next generation of engineers. He has been pivotal in establishing InSite’s mentoring programme and driving initiatives such as the Year in Industry scheme, graduate recruitment, and structured training programmes for early career professionals.

Philippa Saunders

Business Performance Manager

As Business Performance Manager at InSite, Philippa leads the continuous improvement of business operations. She works closely with teams across the organisation to drive efficiency, enhance performance, and ensure alignment between business goals and project delivery.

With a background in Chemical Engineering, Philippa brings a valuable technical perspective to business performance, connecting strategic objectives with the realities of project execution. Her experience enables her to identify opportunities for improvement, embed a culture of accountability and growth, and empower teams to deliver their best work for both the business and its clients.
